TeriAnna Mohler smashed a third-inning grand slam, but it was a two-run rally in the top of the 7th inning that proved critical, as the North Central Missouri College softball team claimed a 6-5 road win in Hillsboro, against Jefferson College, on Tuesday afternoon.
Mohler, the starting left fielder and clean-up hitter in NCMC’s lineup, had five RBI’s for North Central, with she and Madi Trump contributing the seventh-inning RBI’s that turned a 5-4 JeffCo lead into a 6-5 Lady Pirate advantage. McKinley Hurley scored in both the 3rd and 7th innings for Nort Central, part of a two hit game. Courtney Seymour was right in the middle of the two rallies, reaching by a single and walk, stealing a base, and scoring one run.
Allison Hilsabeck picked up the win for North Central, improving to 12-2, giving up seven hits and five runs (four earned) in seven innings of work.
Game #1 at Jefferson turned into a pitchers duel, with Jefferson claiming a 2-1 win with a run in the bottom of the 7th inning. NCMC answered a Jefferson run in the bottom of the 3rd inning with a run in the top of the 4th inning, as Rachael Balke drove in Madi Trump, who had a double and a walk in the contest for a Lady Pirate offense held to only four hits.
North Central Missouri College will host Crowder College on Friday afternoon at Mark Griffin Memorial Field in Trenton. It will be “Sophomore Recognition Day” for the Lady Pirates softball program.
