Despite leading 71-65 with 1:17 left, Mizzou’s fortunes shifted as Jackson State mounted a comeback, tying the game with three consecutive successful field goals in the final minute.
Mizzou had control of the game until a crucial turnover in the final moments, allowing Jackson State to capitalize and snatch the victory, as Mizzou struggled with turnovers throughout the game, committing 18, which Jackson State converted into 26 points. Head coach Dennis Gates credited Jackson State for their defensive efforts in forcing turnovers.
Guard Caleb Grill played a crucial role in Mizzou’s second-half momentum, contributing with four three-point shots, an electrifying dunk, and seven rebounds. Grill finished the game with 15 points.
