The Missouri Tigers, the #15 overall seed in the NCAA softball tournament, take tons of momentum into Big 10 country this weekend, as Mizzou looks to knock off the top remaining seed in the tournament, the Michigan Wolverines, in a best-of-three series in Ann Arbor.
Michigan, the #2 overall seed, has a season record of 49-5, and will host the SEC’s Tigers in Game #1 on Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Wilpon Complex/Alumni Field. The game will be televised nationwide on ESPN, with Pam Ward and Cheri Kempf on the call.
The “Super Regional” round has already seen a big upset, as #16 seed Georgia ended the season of the #1 seed Florida Gators on Friday night in Gainesville, moving the Lady Bulldogs into the 8-team College World Series.
Game two between the Tigers and Wolverines will be played on Sunday morning at 11, again on ESPN. If a Game #3 is necessary, it would be played on Sunday at 2 PM on ESPNU.
Mizzou rolled through three games last weekend in the Columbia Regional, rolling to three shutout victories, winning games over Nebraska and BYU by a combined score of 26-0.
Sophomore pitcher Paige Lowary threw 16 shutout innings, striking out 13 during the weekend.
