Blake Harris, a four-star point guard from Raleigh, North Carolina, has become the latest high school player to sign with Cuonzo Martin’s Missouri Tigers, announcing his decision via Twitter on Sunday night.
Harris, as was the case with National Player of the Year Michael Porter Jr., had been committed to the Washington Huskies, before the Seattle school fired Coach Lorenzo Romar last month. Both Porter Jr. and Harris de-committed with UW and committed to MU.
Harris joined five-star forward Kevin Knox and Porter Jr. in an official visit to the University of Missouri this past weekend. A 6’3″ guard, Harris is rated as the #124 player in the country by 247Sports.com, and chose Missouri over Connecticut, Michigan State, North Carolina State, and Rutgers. His commitment gives Coach Martin three players in this year’s recruiting haul at Missouri, including Texas guard C.J. Roberts, who signed last fall with Coach Kim Anderson, and re-affirmed his commitment to Mizzou last week. The three-man group now rates #16 in composite recruiting rankings for 2017 by 247Sports.com.
Missouri may not be done on the recruiting trail by a long shot, as the Tigers remain in play for Knox, a top-ten national talent also considering Duke, Florida State, Kentucky, and North Carolina, in addition to East St. Louis center Jeremiah Tilmon, who recently reneged on a verbal commitment with Illinois, and Illinois High School Player of the Year Mark Smith of Edwardsville, Illinois. Gaining commitments from that entire group could give Missouri the top-ranked recruiting class in the country, an amazing switch-around for a program dealing with last-place SEC finishes and fan apathy just one month ago.
