The University of Missouri football program has announced a move for the season opener from Saturday, September 2nd to Thursday, August 31st, when the Tigers host the University of South Dakota Coyotes at Memorial Stadium in Columbia.
In making the same decision to move the game as was done in 2022, Mizzou officials indicate the opportunity for the game to be televised on the SEC Network played a factor, but perhaps even more was moving the game away from the Saturday of Labor Day weekend for fan travel issues. The game will kickoff at 7 o’clock in the evening. Last season, Mizzou downed Louisiana Tech 52-24.
For the 7th time in the last eight years (the 2020 COVID-19 affected game is the outlier), the Missouri game with Arkansas is being moved to the day after Thanksgiving. The game on Black Friday (Friday, November 24th) will kickoff at 3 o’clock on CBS, with MU traveling to Fayetteville to play the Razorbacks in the SEC regular season finale. Mizzou defeated Arkansas in Columbia last year 29-27, after falling in the Tigers last trip to Fayetteville, 34-17 in November 2021.
