Missouri’s Noah Carter scored 18 points, and Sean East contributed 17 as Missouri defeated Loyola of Maryland 78-70 on Saturday.
Nick Honor scored 13, and Anthony Robinson added 10 for the Tigers (5-2). Carter also recorded five rebounds, three steals, and two assists, while East had four assists.
In the second half, Missouri strategically hit timely 3-pointers, expanding a four-point halftime lead to 59-46 near the 10-minute mark. The Tigers made 11 out of 28 attempts from beyond the arc (39.3%). Missouri’s largest lead was 13 points, and despite Loyola narrowing the gap with six of the game’s last eight points, the Tigers secured the win.
Alonso Faure scored 18 points, D’Angelo Stines added 14, David Brown scored 11, and Deon Perry contributed 10 for the Greyhounds (1-5). Loyola led in rebounding 41-34, with Faure securing a game-high eight rebounds.
Missouri initiated the game with three 3-pointers, leading 13-9 after six minutes. The Tigers then dominated with an 18-0 run, featuring contributions from six players. However, after making 7 of 10 shots during the run, the Tigers missed their next 10 attempts, and Loyola closed the gap to 35-31 at halftime.
Missouri is scheduled to play at Pittsburgh in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Tuesday.
