The Missouri Tigers have officially added Jordan Geist of Fort Wayne, Indiana to their basketball program. Geist, who will be a sophomore next season at MU, was a Second Team NJCAA Division 1 All-American at Ranger College in Ranger, Texas in the 2015-2016 season, helping to lead the Rangers to fourth place at the national tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas last month.
Geist, a 6’3″ guard, averaged 15.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game for a Ranger team coached by former Texas A&M and Kentucky Head Coach Billy Gillespie, as the Ranger squad went 35-3. In a 87-74 victory for his team in the second-round of the national tournament (vs. Eastern Florida State), Geist had 29 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor, and 10-of-15 from the free throw line.
Geist played at the high school level in the basketball-rich state of Indiana, helping Homestead High School to the 4a state championship in 2014-2015, with averages of 16.8 points and 3.6 assists per game from the point guard position. As a junior at Penn High School in Mishawaka, Indiana, Geist was named an Indiana “Junior Star”, averaging 17.7 points and 3.3 assists per game for the 23-2 “Kingsmen”.
Geist will have three years of eligibility for Kim Anderson’s program at the University of Missouri. Geist, in signing, told Mizzou officials, “The atmosphere and culture surrounding Mizzou’s program is very exciting to me. The campus is beautiful and the basketball arena is second-to-none. The SEC has great competition and has tough programs to play against.”
