The University of Missouri will be adding University of Hawaii point guard Drew Buggs to the 2020-2021 basketball roster, a pass-first option who leaves the Rainbow Warriors as the all-time assist leader in that program’s history.
Buggs, as a junior at UH, averaged 9.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game, with that assist number leading the entire Big West Conference. With Missouri, Buggs will provide point guard depth and Division One experience, sharing time with Xavier Pinson and Dru Smith at the critical ball-handling possession for Coach Cuonzo Martin.
Buggs chose Missouri as a graduate transfer over Iowa State and Loyola Marymount, and will have one year of eligibility at Mizzou.
Earlier in the weekend, Missouri missed on another potential graduate transfer, with Fresno State’s Jarred Hyder announcing his decision of California as his future home. He had the Tigers in his “Top 5”.
In other SEC basketball news, three more players have declared for the NBA Draft while not signing with an agent, leaving open the opportunity for a return to school. South Carolina leading scorer A.J. Lawson and the Florida duo of Andrew Nembhard and Tre Mann announced their decisions on Sunday.
