After missing on recruiting bids for transfers Justin Turner and David DeJulius, combined with prep standout Josh Christopher choosing Arizona State, instead of Missouri, Head Coach Cuonzo Martin was in add of an infusion of talent to the Tigers, preferably for the 2020-2021 season.
On Thursday, Missouri did find success on the trail, with the commitment of junior college forward Ed Chang to the Tigers. Chang, a native of Omaha, Nebraska, was on Coach Martin’s radar coming out of high school at Papillion-La Vista, but spurned Missouri to join San Diego State. After one season with the Aztecs, Chang transferred to Salt Lake City Community College, where he averaged 8.2 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
In a best-case scenario, Chang should add needed three-point shooting accuracy to the floor for MU, hitting 41% of his shots from that range at Salt Lake, and now joining an SEC program that shot only 29.7% on three-point shots in 2019-2020.
Chang, as a junior college transfer, will be immediately eligible to play for Missouri this year, joining the recruiting class that includes 7’3″ freshman center Jordan Wilmore.
