Missouri’s recruiting efforts received a significant boost with the commitment of defensive tackle Jason Dowell, marking their second addition to the Class of 2025. The four-star recruit from Belleville, Illinois, announced his decision to join the Tigers, joining quarterback Matt Zollers in what promises to be an exciting class.
Dowell’s decision to commit to Missouri came after careful consideration of offers from several other prominent programs, including Kansas, Illinois, and Indiana, as well as Power Four schools like Auburn, USC, Oregon, and Iowa. Despite the competition, Dowell ultimately chose Missouri, highlighting the appeal of the Tigers’ program.
Standing at 6-foot-3 and weighing 275 pounds, Dowell brings size and strength to the defensive line. His impressive performance for Althoff Catholic in the 2023 season, where he recorded 77 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks, demonstrated his impact on the field. Notably, Dowell earned recognition as a first-team All-Metro selection and received honorable mention all-state honors.
Dowell’s athletic abilities extend beyond the football field, as evidenced by his success in wrestling and baseball. In February, he clinched the Illinois Class 1A heavyweight wrestling championship, showcasing his versatility as an athlete. Currently, Dowell is making an impact on the baseball diamond for Althoff Catholic, maintaining a stellar batting average of .406 and contributing eight RBI and one home run in 39 plate appearances this season.
With Dowell’s commitment, Missouri’s recruiting class gains momentum, positioning the Tigers as contenders in the competitive landscape of college football recruiting. While the class currently consists of only two recruits, their quality is undeniable, reflected in their four-star ratings. As the recruiting cycle progresses, Missouri aims to build on this foundation and continue to attract top talent to bolster their program.
