Missouri softball invited to NCAA Tournament, traveling to Oregon this weekend

The worst regular season in a decade for the University of Missouri’s softball program will not keep the Tigers out of the NCAA Tournament, but, for the first time in nine years, Mizzou will not host a regional tournament, instead heading on the road.

The Southeastern Conference showed its overall softball power on Sunday night, with all 13 schools (Vanderbilt does not have a softball program) in the SEC making the NCAA Tournament field.  Missouri, with a record of 29-26, will be a #2 seed for the regional tournament at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon this weekend.

The Oregon Ducks are the #3 overall seed in the tournament, and will welcome MU, #3 seed Wisconsin, and #4 seed Illinois-Chicago to the Pacific Northwest.

The Tigers will begin their 11th straight NCAA Tournament appearance against Wisconsin (33-15) on Friday night at 8 o’clock (Central) on ESPN.  In the second game on Friday night, Oregon (47-6) will host UIC (38-20).  The tournament, running through Sunday, is double elimination.
