The University of Missouri added to its football program over the weekend, as Jackson State defensive end Nyles Gaddy and Houston offensive tackle Cam’Ron Johnson officially announced a transfer to Mizzou.
Gaddy, a redshirt junior, played last season at JSU for coach Deion Sanders, who left in the offseason for the opening at Colorado. His addition to the Tiger program comes at a critical time in the offseason, with Missouri having lost four edge rushers since the end of last season, including Arden Walker, who entered the transfer portal in late April.
Last season at Jackson State, Gaddy was a first-team SWAC performer, with 40 tackles, seven sacks, and two forced fumbles. He began his collegiate career at Tennessee, where he spent two years before a transfer to JSU. Missouri, in addition to Gaddy, has added Northwestern’s Austin Firestone and Arizona State’s Joe Moore to the defensive line position.
Johnson chose Missouri as a transfer destination over Southern California, where he had taken an unofficial visit. Johnson visited MU in April, and will follow new MU offensive line coach Brandon Jones from Houston to Mizzou.
Last season, Johnson was an all-AAC first-team selections, starting 13 games at left guard for the Cougars, allowing only one sack.
