Milan High School’s Eddie Gonzalez and Tahli Gray have signed letters of intent to attend and continue their basketball careers at Central Methodist University and John Wood Community College, respectively.
In signing ceremonies recently held in the Milan High School gymnasium, Gonzalez inked with Central Methodist University of Fayette, with the senior having been part of the backbone of a Wildcat team that reached the Final Four for the first time in school history this March, with a mark of 25-4. Gray committed to John Wood, a two-year junior college in Quincy, Illinois. The signing represents the second time in as many years that the Trail Blazers, who traditionally do very strong in the northeast Missouri recruiting window, have inked a Grand River Conference standout. Last season, JWCC signed Trenton High School’s Mykah Hurley for a basketball and softball combination.
Early in the week, Princeton High School senior all-state forward Preston Thomas chose to continue his basketball career in the junior college ranks, signing with Des Moines Area Community College, traditionally one of the strongest D-2 programs in America.
Meanwhile, in Trenton, at a North Central Missouri College program that ranked #1 in the country for seven weeks this past season, the Pirates top contributor off the bench, St. Louis native Michael Horton, signed with the Heart of America Conference’s Clarke University Pride. Horton will have two years of eligibility at the Dubuque, Iowa school, starting in 2020-2021.
High-scoring forward Alexa Higgins, a senior at Brashear High School out of the Tri-County Conference, has signed a letter of intent with Graceland University. Higgins averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds this season for the Lady Tigers, and will be joining a Lady Yellowjacket squad in a rebuilding mode, seeking a new coach after a woeful 4-26 season in 2019-2020.
