The Milan High School girls and boys basketball teams claimed convincing victories over Bucklin-Macon County over the past two night, moving both Wildcat squads into the consolation finals of the Marceline Hoops Classic on Friday night.
On Wednesday night, the Lady ‘Cats doubled up BMC by a score of 50-25. That score, combined with a 56-13 Thursday night throttling of Bevier by the host Marceline Lady Tigers, sets up a 4 o’clock Milan vs. Marceline consolation final on Friday afternoon.
The Milan boys, on Thursday night, broke a two-game losing skid with a 53-19 victory over BMC. The Wildcats have earned a second meeting with Schuyler County, after the Rams beat Bevier on Wednesday night, 50-35. The Wildcats won at Schuyler County in early December. The rematch, in the Marceline consolation final, will be Friday night at 5:30.
In the third place games on Friday night, the Meadville girls will duel with Glasgow at 7 o’clock, followed by the Meadville boys against South Shelby at 8:30.
In the championship games, Saturday night at Marceline High School, the Schuyler County Lady Rams take on South Shelby at 4 o’clock, followed by the Marceline Tigers battling the Glasgow Yellowjackets at 5:30.
The Schuyler County girls beat Meadville in the semifinal round 57-24, while the Glasgow boys rolled past South Shelby 71-50. On Wednesday night, the Marceline boys won a semifinal thriller over Meadville 39-38, while the South Shelby girls slipped by Glasgow, 49-39.
