The Putnam County Middle School and junior varsity football teams swung a pair of shutouts against the visiting Trenton Bulldogs on Monday night at Putnam County Stadium in Unionville.
PCMS won the first game of the night 20-0, scoring all the points needed to win in the first quarter, on a 75 yard kickoff return. PC added a 28 yard scoring strike in the third quarter and a 3 yard run in the final quarter. PC succeeded on only one of three two-point conversion attempts.
Trenton’s offense, despite the lack of points, moved the football decently, with Gabe Stark amassing 128 yards on the ground, and Brayden Hughs 53. Stark, on the defensive side of the ball, had eight tackles and three sacks.
The Putnam County JV beat Trenton in Monday night’s finale by a score of 24-0, dropping the Bulldogs to 1-2.
Trenton will host Princeton in Middle School and JV action on Monday night, September 30th at C.F. Russell Stadium, with action starting at 5 o’clock.
