The MIAA and its member institutions, including Northwest Missouri State and Missouri Western, have announced an updated plan for fall sports that will delay the start of practice until the week of August 31st, with the start of competition delayed until the week of September 28th. The MIAA’s CEO Council is continuing to monitor the plan and will make adjustments to it if needed.
MIAA Commissioner Mike Racy said of the newest plan, “This plan allows our student-athletes to get back on campus and get acclimated with the student body before we begin practices and competition. We remain hopeful that the MIAA student-athletes will be able to practice and compete this fall, but we need to be patient and make sure that we are doing that in a healthy and safe environment for our student-athletes, coaches, and administrators.”
The newest plan, as its pertains to the football season, now has the Northwest Missouri State opener against rival Pittsburg State on October 3rd in Maryville, with the Missouri Western Griffons at Nebraska-Kearney that same afternoon to open the 2020 season.
