The North Central Missouri College softball team has added another winning piece to their 2017 recruiting class. Melanie Roberts, a senior from Blue Springs South High School, will join the Lady Pirates after a senior season in which her high school team ended as the Class 4 State runner-up. This winning experience was a big draw for Coach Richman. “Melanie has been on a very talented Blue Springs South team and knows what it takes to win.”
Defense is a strong suit for Roberts. “She was a starting outfielder and set a school defensive record, recording 0 errors for the entire season,” remarked Richman. Additionally, Melanie has been an excellent teammate, earning the Jaguar Pride team award as a senior.
Melanie excels both on and off the softball field. She is a member of the National Honor Society, a member of the student senate and is a senior class officer. She has been an active volunteer in her community and she was involved in “Youth Rebuilding New Orleans.” “We are excited to get a player from a great program and look forward to what she can offer to NCMC. She will be a great addition to our 2017-2018 softball team,” concluded Coach Richman.
