Monday night’s announced community meeting at Princeton High School has been postponed until Wednesday because the Princeton Tigers played basketball games at the South Harrison Tournament in Bethany. The change in the basketball schedule was prompted by games being postponed due to the weekend snowstorm.
The Wednesday night public meeting begins at 6 o’clock in the activity room, with information to be presented on student enrollment, the prospects for future Tiger football teams, the potential change in the conference affiliation (from the eastern division to the western division of the Grand River Conference), and with that, the possibility of Tiger football going to eight-man competition, and playing schools like Worth County, Pattonsburg, Stanberry, King City, and North Andrew in future years. Recent years have seen numerous programs across northern Missouri move from 11-man to 8-man competition, including King City, Schuyler County, Bishop LeBlond, North Shelby, and Knox County.
Input also will be received by the Princeton R-5 School Board members who are expected to make a final decision concerning the topic at a public meeting in March.
