The Meadville Eagles hosted the Grundy County Panthers in a softball / baseball doubleheader on Monday night, with the host Eagles coming out on top in both games.
The softball contest was won by Meadville 13-6, with eight runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning the decisive blow for MHS. Emma Novak was 4 for 4 with four singles, three runs scored, an RBI, and a steal for the Lady Panthers, while Kendra Johnson was 3 for 4 with three singles, two RBI’s, and two stolen bases.
Grundy R-5 softball coach Jessica Parsons complimented her team “never quitting and keeping up the battle”. Coach Parsons added that “getting 11 hits was a big improvement for the offense”.
The loss drops the Grundy softball team to 5-11 on the season.
Meadville won a hotly contested baseball game against Grundy R-5, 14-13, ending the Panthers season with a record of 2-6.
Andrew Garcia pitched 3 2/3 innings for the Panthers, allowing three runs and five hits, with four strikeouts and five walks. Lane Kenley pitched two innings and Ryan Metcalf 1/3 inning for Grundy County.
The Panther offense was paced by Kenley with three hits and an RBI. Blake Foster had two hits and two RBI’s, with Johnathan Stimpson adding two hits and an RBI.
