The Meadville Eagles are safely into Thursday night’s semifinals in the 62nd annual Northwestern Tournament in Mendon, with the Lady Eagles winning a tight game with Bucklin/Macon County, while the #1 seeded boys hammered BMC on Tuesday night.
The MHS girls took a 51-46 win, pushing the Lady Eagles to a 7 o’clock semifinal on Thursday night with #1 seeded Higbee. The Higbee girls rolled to a 70-30 win over Brunswick on Tuesday night.
The Meadville boys were impressive in a 90-33 victory over B-MC, cruising into the semifinals against Brunswick (Thursday / 8:15 PM). The Northwestern boys, seeded #3 in their own tournament, had little trouble in defeating Higbee, taking a 67-32 win.
The consolation semifinals at Northwestern High School start at 4:30 this (Wednesday) afternoon, with the Keytesville girls battling Linn County. At 5:45, the Hale Cardinal boys play Higbee. The Bucklin-Macon County girls are opposite Brunswick at 7 o’clock, followed by the BMC boys against Keytesville at 8:15. The championship semifinals are slated for Thursday evening in Mendon.
