The Kansas City Chiefs continued their assault on the Arrowhead Stadium scoreboard on Sunday afternoon, with Patrick Mahomes throwing for 416 yards and five touchdowns in a 35-9 win over the hapless New York Jets.
Tyreek Hill had two touchdown catches, including one that, in celebration, sent him into the seats at Arrowhead Stadium, tossing the football to a lucky fan. Travis Kelce had a touchdown catch and 109 yards receiving, with Mecole Hardman and Demarcus Robinson adding touchdown catches for the defending World Champions.
In his first game going against the team that released him just two weeks prior, running back Le’Veon Bell had just seven yards rushing and 31 yards receiving on three catches for Kansas City.
Sam Darnold threw for 133 yards on 18 of 30 accuracy for New York, now 0-8 for the first time since 1996. Nineteen-point underdogs coming into the game, the Jets kept the contest reasonably close with three first-half field goals, but eventually wilted under the weight of the Chiefs dynamic offensive attack.
Kansas City will host the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, November 8th, while the Jets host the rival Patriots on Monday Night Football, on November 9th at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
