The Lexington Minutewomen held off a first-set challenge from Trenton, part of a sweep of the Lady Bulldogs on Monday night by a score of 27-25, 25-18. The THS offensive punch came from junior Evy McCullough, with four blocks and a pair of kills. Jessa Shipley had two digs, Ava Simpson five assists, and Libby Fewins three kills. Â
Trenton Coach Pam Bowden told KTTNSports.com, “We came out ready and to play were competitive! We just couldn’t close the cap and get the win. We reminded the girls to believe in their abilities to find success!”Â
The Lexington JV rallied for a 19-25, 25-19, 15-9 win over THS. Kaylea Boyle had four assists, and Makenzee Epperson and Sarah Washburn three aces each for Trenton.
The Lady Bulldogs will host Bishop LeBlond on Tuesday night at 5 o’clock.
In a battle of Hornets on Monday night, the Chillicothe varsity beat Penney 25-17, 18-25, 25-17. Chillicothe had five kills from Clara Leamer, with three aces and five kills from Essie Hicks, with Gracie West contributing four kills, and Haylee Coplen nine assists, and Jessie Reeter five aces. Penney High School was led by six aces and five digs from Jessica Richman, and six kills from Brittani Wilson.
The Chillicothe JV beat Penney 25-11, 25-15, with the C team match going to Chillicothe 25-11, 25-7.
