A Lathrop football team beat Trenton on Monday night, the second win for the Mules over the Bulldogs in three days. This one, unlike the varsity matchup, just took one night.
The Mules JV claimed a 26-14 win over Trenton on Monday, racing out to a 12-0 lead at halftime on the strength of two scores. After the JV Bulldogs fell behind 19-0 early in the third stanza, a comeback effort commenced for Trenton. Jose Velazquez ran in the ball for a touchdown, with the successful two-point conversion cutting the Mules lead to 19-8. The Bulldogs made it a one-score game in the fourth quarter, on another Velazquez touchdown. A failed two-point conversion left the score 19-14.
Lathrop played keep away from Trenton late, and scored a touchdown for the winning margin, officially squashing the Bulldogs comeback effort.
The Trenton JV will host Lexington on Monday, August 29th, with kickoff at 6 o’clock at C.F. Russell Stadium.
