Larson wins at Charlotte as NASCAR’s playoffs roll on

Kyle Larson battled and conquered electrical issues early in Sunday’s NASCAR playoff cup race at Charlotte Motor Speedway, winning the race at the “Roval” in a wild day of racing in North Carolina.

Among the late race highlights, Chase Elliott was deliberately crashed by Kevin Harvick, nearly costing Elliott a chance to advance in NASCAR’s playoff system.  Among the racers eliminated on Sunday were Alex Bowman and William Byron.

Three weeks ago at Bristol, Elliott cost Harvick a victory, and Harvick did not forget, sending Elliott into the wall just past the halfway point of Sunday’s race.  Post-race, Harvick played coy with his intentions, neither admitting or denying his intentions to “pay back” Elliott.

The victory for Larson is his seventh of the season, sending him into the third round of NASCAR’s playoffs.  Elliott’s team, despite the damage caused by the wreck, were able to get their driver back onto the track and into contention.  With most believing that Elliott was looking for revenge on Harvick, Harvick veered into the wall with just ten laps remaining, ending his title run on the earliest date since 2014.
