The North Central Missouri College women rebounded from a slow start, dominating the second quarter to the tune of 22-5, beating the visiting Spires of University of St. Mary (JV) 84-55 on Sunday at the Ketcham Community Center.
Sophomore guard Kendey Eaton led the Lady Pirates with 24 points, with fellow sophomore Sarah Lamp scoring 15. The bench was productive in the home court victory for NCMC, with Hailey Burrows scoring nine points, with Whitley Richman and Lindsay Wyatt both adding eight. Richman, the Trenton High School product, had a team-high 14 rebounds.
The Lady Pirates busy week continues on Wednesday night, with NCMC’s women’s and men’s team traveling to Beatrice, Nebraska to play the Southeast Community College Storm. Both games (women at 5 PM and men at 7 PM) will be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7, KTTNSports.com, and KTTN on Tune-In Radio.
The Lady Pirates and Pirates open Region 16 play on Saturday afternoon, hosting the St. Louis CC Archers at the Ketcham Community Center. At this time, both games are slated to be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7, although plans for the men’s game could change, depending on potential games and coverage plans from the Lawson Tournament and/or Milan Tournament on Saturday night. The St. Louis women entered the first weekend of 2018 ranked #3 in the country and unbeaten, however losses to Daytona State (76-63) and Eastern Florida State (75-68) have the Lady Archers at 13-2, with a date with Moberly scheduled for Tuesday night before Saturday’s trip to Trenton to play the 12-3 Lady Pirates.
