The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirates will take a 34-15 record (10-14 in Region 16 play) into post-season play this weekend in Joplin. In a doubleheader split on Tuesday afternoon at Griffin Field in Trenton, NCMC completed its 2018 regular season.
In Tuesday’s opener against Three Rivers, Alex Miller provided the arm and the bat for a 5-1 Lady Pirate triumph. Miller threw a complete game, and hammered a 2-run homer for the Lady Pirates offense. Game 2 on Tuesday was a tough one for North Central, in a 14-2 loss to the Lady Raiders.
The Lady Pirates have the #4 seed for the Region 16 tournament, and will open play on Friday against #5 seed Maple Woods. The Pirates and the Monarchs split their four-game regular season series. A victory against Maple Woods would move NCMC into a second-round game with top-seeded Three Rivers.
The NCMC-Maple Woods game will start at 9 AM on Friday. A loss would have the Lady Pirates coming back and playing at 11:15 AM. A win would mean a 3:45 PM first pitch.
