Lady Pirate golf wins Region XVI championship in Illinois tournament

The North Central Missouri College Lady Pirate golf team participated in the NJCAA Central District Tournament in Effingham, Illinois during the final week of April, finishing third in the district event, but, courtesy of an overall third-place showing, winning the Region XVI championship over rival Metropolitan Community College.

Earning 1st Team All-Region XVI honors for their play for NCMC were Taylor Hileman with a 36-hole score of 205, good for a ninth-place finish in the district standings.  Finishing in 13th place in the final standings was Emily Long, earning All-Region XVI first-team status with a score of 213.

Lexi Hutton, with a score of 215, was the first North Central player to earn first-team All-Region status, finishing 14th in the district tally.  Laynie Sweiger shot 237 for NCMC, good for 16th place.

Besting the Lady Pirates third place Central District finish to take the top two spots in the event were the championship team from John A. Logan and runner-up Rend Lake.  The event, held Monday, April 25th and Tuesday, April 26th, was contested on the 6,100 yard Effingham Country Club course in Effingham, Illinois.
