The Lady Panthers of Grundy County R-V High School began the 2017-2018 basketball season on Monday night, rolling to a 66-40 victory over the Linn County Lady Mustangs in Galt.
Morgan Axtell paced the Grundy girls in scoring with a game-high 20, with Jandy Peterson adding 11, and Emma Baxter 10 points. For Linn County, Jenna Holman had 14 points, with Madison Livingston netting 10.
The Linn County boys picked up a 79-62 win over Grundy R-5. Jase White led the Mustangs with 26 points, with Chadley Waltz scoring 21, and Kade Ward 15 points. For the Panthers, Bryson Gann led the way with 17 points, with Tanner Williams adding 14, and Wayne Baxter 11.
The Grundy R-5 girls and boys will play at Bevier in their next games, in a doubleheader on Tuesday, November 28th.
