The Chillicothe Lady Hornets finished off a 2-1 week with a 43-34 loss to William Chrisman on Saturday night in the championship game of the Savannah Invitational Tournament. Junior Jordan Hibner hit four 3-point shots for 12 points to pace Chillicothe, now 3-1 on the season, while Amanda Szopenski had 10 points to lead WC.
The Maryville boys beat Platte County 64-44 to take the Savannah championship late on Saturday night.
The Benton Cardinals downed Chillicothe in the consolation final on Saturday afternoon, 50-45, dropping the Hornets record to 1-2. Westley Brandsgaard had 13 points and Bradley Riley 10 for Chillicothe. The Lady Hornets and Hornets are next in action on Friday night, hosting Trenton in a varsity doubleheader to be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7.
The Benton JV won the 7th place game over LeBlond 39-32. The Savannah boys downed Hogan Prep 45-42 in the third place game. The Staley girls won third place over Smithville 48-36, while the Maryville girls beat rival Savannah in the consolation final 67-52.
