Lady Bulldogs hope to follow volleyball interest, with on-the-court wins in 2017

With overall numbers approaching 30, with a large number of the girls in the program being freshmen, volleyball interest in the halls of Trenton High School is at an all-time high heading into the 2017-2018 school year.  The Lady Bulldogs opened practice on Monday morning under third year Head Coach Amanda King, with the large group of freshmen, yet only one senior.  However, King is hoping that varsity experience gained over the past two years by a strong junior group will be the catalyst for a successful autumn on the THS hardwood.

Coach King is delighted by the interest in her program:

With only one senior on the roster, the juniors appear ready to take a large part of the leadership role for the 2017 Lady Bulldogs:

Trenton’s season opener is at Cameron High School against the Lady Dragons on Monday, August 21st, with a trip to Lawson to take on the Lady Cardinals the following night.  The tough opening week stretch of road tests continues on Thursday the 24th at Chillcothe, before the Lady Bulldogs host Penney in the THS home opener on Monday, August 28th.

While it’s probably true that looking at the Trenton roster, and seeing who had varsity experience, would give one a glimpse into the Lady Bulldogs opening night varsity lineup, Coach King told KTTN that the girls have been told that varsity spots will be decided over the next 2 1/2 weeks:

That is Trenton High School varsity volleyball coach Amanda King.  She will be assisted this year by Lysander Overstreet on the Bulldog bench.
