The Trenton Lady Bulldogs lost to Braymer 3-2 in Saturday’s championship game in the LaPlata Softball Tournament, with THS finishing with a 2-1 record on the day, heading into a showdown on Monday night at home with Class 2 #1 ranked Marceline.
Against Brashear in the quarterfinals, Trenton cruised to an 11-2 triumph, with Madi Moore sparking the offense with a 3 for 3 game, with 3 RBI’s and three runs scored, including a homer. Kenzie Lynch was 1 for 3 with three RBI’s and a run scored, while Jena Harris was 1 for 3 with two RBI’s and a run scored. Emma Roberts got the win from the pitching circle.
In the semifinals, Trenton won a closer contest, downing South Shelby by a score of 3-1. Kaylor Hodge was 2 for 2 against the Ladybirds with an RBI and a run scored. Harris was 1 for 4 with a pair of RBI’s, with Avery Clark taking the pitching win.
Against Braymer, Jena Harris was 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored, with Hodge 2 for 4, Moore 2 for 4, Mirena King 1 for 3, and Lynch 2 for 3.
Milan finished third place at the LaPlata Tournament, with a 5-4 win against LaPlata, a 5-4 win against South Shelby, and an 11-0 semifinal win to eventual champion Braymer.
