In a Monday night matchup seeing Baltimore’s old team returning to its roots to play the city’s new team, the Ravens stunned the Indianapolis Colts 31-25 in overtime, with former NFL MVP Lamar Jackson throwing for a career-high 442 yards and four touchdowns, while rushing for 62 yards.
The Ravens, who joined the NFL when the rebranded Cleveland Browns left Ohio for Maryland in 1995, replaced the old Baltimore Colts, who famously left in the middle of the night in 1983 for the franchise’s new home in Indiana. In the Colts eighth trip back to Baltimore to play the Ravens, Indianapolis controlled most of the action, surging to a 25-9 lead early in the fourth quarter.
The Ravens rally needed two touchdowns, which Jackson achieved by hitting tight end Mark Andrews on a pair of short passes, and two successful two-point conversions, also made by Baltimore, sending the game to overtime tied at 25. A potential game-winning field goal at the end of regulation missed for the Colts.
On the first possession of overtime, Jackson connected with Oklahoma product Marquise ‘Hollywood’ Brown on a 5 yard touchdown pass for the game-winning score.
