Westfield High School (Indiana) senior kicker/punter Brody Boehm, hailing from the Indianapolis area, announced his commitment to Missouri on Monday night following a weekend visit. Boehm will join the Southeastern Conference (SEC) program as a preferred walk-on.
“I’m looking forward to opening a new chapter in my life at Mizzou,” Boehm expressed. “Everything about the school really piqued my interest on my visit.”
Missouri has a track record of success with Indiana kickers, notably Harrison Mevis, who, as the Mr. Football position award winner for kicker in 2019, clinched a 61-yard field goal to secure a victory over Kansas State, setting an SEC record for the longest field goal. Mevis subsequently declared for the NFL draft after establishing Missouri’s all-time record for points, making 86-of-103 field goal attempts, and converting 145-of-146 extra points.
Boehm, who was initially being recruited to Appalachian State as a punter, expressed his preference for the opportunity to focus on kicking. During his senior year, he displayed his skills by going 6-for-12 on field goals and 48-for-49 on extra points. Additionally, Boehm recorded 45 touchbacks on 67 kickoffs and maintained an average punt distance of 37.3 yards.
“That is something that really comes in handy being a combo,” Boehm explained. “It opens up more doors to different schools.”
Missouri already has a returning kicker, Blake Craig, who will enter his sophomore year. Craig, a product of Liberty North in Kansas City, set multiple high school records, including career field goals with 45.
“He’s good,” Boehm acknowledged. “We are going to make each other battle and get better day in and day out.”
Boehm, distinguished as a US Army All-American during his senior year, shares this honor with Brownsburg kicker Spencer Porath, a Purdue recruit. Porath is currently ranked as the No. 13 kicker in the country by Kohl’s Kicking Camps, while Boehm follows closely behind at No. 16 in the 2024 class.
The regular signing period for football is set to commence on Feb. 7.
