The Chillicothe Lady Hornets opened the 2021 volleyball season on Thursday night with a three-set sweep of Trenton, winning 25-11, 25-14, 25-7 inside the CHS gymnasium.
THS coach Brad Ewald indicated that in comparison to Trenton’s season opening loss at Cameron, the Lady Bulldogs did “show a little more life”, but “made a lot of unforced errors that really tipped the scales”.
For Chillicothe, strong serves provided the decisive difference, as Anna Fisher and Emily Dillon both had seven aces. Gracie West added two kills for the Lady Hornets.
For Trenton, Makenzee Epperson had six digs and a kill, with Ava Simpson adding four aces.
Chillicothe (1-0) will be at Brookfield on Tuesday night, with Trenton (0-2) next in action on Tuesday night at Plattsburg.
Chillicothe won the JV matchup 25-12, 25-9, and the freshman/C team game 25-6, 25-13.
