The Grundy R-5 basketball teams welcomed Gilman City High School to the Galt gymnasium on Tuesday night, for a girls/boys HDC Conference doubleheader.
The girls game went to the Lady Panthers, 61-27, as Jandie Peterson had a 17 point night to lead the hosts. Morgan Axtell had 12 points and 7 assists, with Aubrey Gann contributing 11 points and seven rebounds to the winning cause.
The Panther boys, with Bryson Gann leading the charge courtesy of a 19 point, 15 rebound effort, claimed a home-court win over the Gilman City Hawks, 66-64. Caden Gann had 12 points and Wayne Baxter 11 for Grundy R-5, in arguably the Panthers biggest victory to date in the 2017-2018 season.
