The Grundy R-5 Panthers brought home a pair of victories in a successful trip to Bevier on Tuesday night, with the Lady Panthers cruising to a 60-30 win, while the Grundy boys got their first win of the season with a 51-36 triumph.
Jandy Peterson led a strong Lady Panther charge with 22 points, with Mady Williams and Anna Milazzo both chipping in 10 points. Morgan Axtell added eight and Aubrey Gann seven.
The Grundy boys had a game-high 27 point night from Wayne Baxter, with Caden Gann contributing 14 points in the win.
In their HDC openers, the Panthers make the trek to Eagleville on Friday night, for an early-season test against the North Harrison Shamrocks.
The Tri-County Mustangs took a pair of victories against the Breckenridge Bulldogs, with the girls grinding out a 55-40 win, while the boys took a 58-20 decision.
Knox County and Putnam County renewed old “Tri-Rivers Conference” ties on Tuesday night in Unionville, with the two rivals splitting games in non-conference competition. The Lady Eagles claimed a 57-27 win over the Lady Midgets, with the Putnam County boys, in a closer affair, returning the favor, beating KCHS 51-48.
The Gallatin wrestlers, defending Grand River Conference champions, swept a triangular with Maysville and Marceline, with the Bulldogs beat Maysville 67-12 and the Tigers 39-25.
