The Gilman City girls and boys basketball teams opened the 2016-2017 season on Tuesday, November 22nd, splitting games with the Osborn Wildcats. The Ladyhawks lost their opener before falling in the quarterfinals of the Gallatin Tournament on Monday night, starting 0-2. The Gilman City boys beat Osborn, but lost to the #1 seeded, state-ranked Winston Redbirds on Monday night at Gallatin, with the Hawks starting at 1-1.
Both Gilman City teams, by virtue of their Monday night losses, will play on Wednesday night at Gallatin High School in consolation semifinal play.

Future North Central Missouri College Lady Pirate Hailey Burrows, the Gilman City senior who recently signed with the Trenton two-year school to play basketball from 2017-2019, is the leading scorer early for the Ladyhawks, including a 20 point performance on Monday night against Braymer. Cornelius Peery is the leading scorer through two games for the Gilman City boys.
