Trenton High School sent three golfers to Richmond’s Shirkey Golf Course on Wednesday, with the Spartans hosting 13 other northwest Missouri schools in the annual Richmond Invitational.
Pembroke Hill won team and individual honors with the Raiders putting up a team score of 363, 10 better than runner-up Warrensburg (373). Notre Dame de Sion was third with 387. India Gaume of Pembroke Hill won medalist honors with a four-over par score of 78, as Pembroke Hill had three of the top five individual scores on the day.
Trenton’s Werthen Gass put up a score of 20-over par 94, good for 9th place out of 69 golfers on the Shirkey course. Werthen shot 46 on the front nine and 48 on the back nine in her day of work. Other Trenton scores were 117 (49th place) for Maci Henson and 132 (64th place) for Oakley Madden. Grace Holcomb missed the competition for Trenton (illness), leaving the Lady Bulldogs one player short of being able to place an official team score.
Other schools at the event included Sedalia Smith-Cotton, Maryville, Kearney, Barstow, Savannah, Blue Springs, Richmond, Odessa, St. Teresa’s Academy, and Marshall.
