The Gallatin Bulldogs welcomed the Trenton Bulldogs and Lawson Cardinals to the Daviess County Country Club on Tuesday afternoon, for a triangular golfing competition between the GRC rivals and the strong KCI Conference program.  Originally, the Penney Lady Hornets were scheduled for the event, but a late schedule change affected Hamilton, with that district unable to reschedule for the late-season Gallatin event.

Gallatin’s 226 won the team competition on Tuesday, with Trenton shooting 244 and Lawson 261.  Five golfers from the Gallatin junior varsity also competed, with their score of 259 unofficially placing third, two strokes better than the Lawson varsity.

Trenton High School senior Werthen Gass shot a 7-over par score of 47 to claim medalist honors on the day, with Gallatin’s Jacklyn Maize, at 52, finishing runner-up.  Lawson’s top score of a 58 from Hannah Hurst, while other top scores included 53 from Gallatin’s Ally Johnson and 56 from Trenton’s Maci Henson.  Oakley Madden shot 63 with Mari Atup and Ann Airey both at 78 for Trenton High School.

For Gallatin, Claire Hemry shot 59, Jessica Hart 62, and Libby Endicott 66.  Lawson’s Devynne Miller was at 60, Claire Holles 69, and Bailey Busby 74.

Gallatin JV scores were 63 from Johnna Tadlock, 64’s for the tandem of Jenni Teel and Cloey Waterbury, 68 from Jenna Rains and 81 from Sarah Morrison.

The winning score of 47 from Gass included par’s on the 1st, 3rd, 7th, and 9th holes.  Hensen shot par on the third role, and had a strong round of six over-par 32 going through six holes, but shot five-over on the 7th hole, triple-bogeyed the 8th, and double-bogeyed the 9th.

Trenton Coach Travis Mullenix told KTTNSports.com, “Werthen played pretty well.  She had a couple of minor hiccups on the sixth and eighth holes, with double-bogeys, otherwise a good day for her.  Maci, similarly, had two holes that she struggled on, which hurt her score, but she hit a bunch of good shots and ended up fourth overall!  Oakley didn’t have a great day, but some days are like that on the course, and she’ll be alright.  Mari had the best day of her short career, was able to record some good scores and continues to improve.  Ann, as well, did some good things, and is beginning to strike the ball better.  Her scores are showing it!”.

Trenton’s “Senior Night” finale is Thursday night at Riverside Country Club, as the Lady Bulldogs host the Richmond Spartans and Maysville Wolverines in a 4 o’clock triangular.
