The Gallatin Bulldogs finished in fourth place as a team, while two members of the GHS team, Haden Bradford and Hayden Jumps, shot qualifying scores of 86, at Monday’s Class 1, Section 4 golf tournament. Bradford and Jumps finished in a ninth place tie. Also qualifying for next week’s state tournament are King City’s Collin Breckenridge, with a 5th place score of 82, Stanberry’s Landon Marticke, with a 14th place round of 89, Hamilton’s Nicholas Wyckoff, with a 17th place showing of 90, and Plattsburg’s Shelby Dickerson, with a 20-over par score of 91. Plattsburg finished third as a team, just two strokes behind runner-up Mid-Buchanan’s 353, with the Tigers shooting 355. Plattsburg’s top score, a fourth place 80, was turned in by Klayton Kennedy.
Bishop LeBlond won the Section 4 tournament, advancing to state as a team along with Mid-Buchanan, as the Golden Eagles shot 336. Hank Lierz of LeBlond was medalist at 2-over par 73.
At the Class 1, Section 3 tournament, Westran and Van-Far earned the team spots at state, with the Hornets shooting 335 in first place, and the Indians runner-up at 351. Marceline, with a team score of 383, was in fourth place.
Putnam County’s Jaden Wyant, with a round of 85, finishing in a 7th place tie, earning a spot at the state event. Marceline will be represented by Colby Sims, with a round of 87 earning him a 12th place tie in the sectional event.
Kanon Kendrick of South Shelby shot even-par 72 to win the Section 3 tournament.
The South Harrison Bulldogs will send three golfers to the Class 2 state tournament, all finishing in the Top-20 of Monday’s Class 2, Section 4 tournament. The Section 4 champions are from St. Pius X, with a score of 321, while Palmyra earned the other team spot at state, with a runner-up tally of 327. Maryvile, at 348, finished third.
Cole Elling of St. Pius X took the individual medalist honors, at 1-over par 73. Lawson will send two golfers to state, with Jack Evans (81/7th place) and Jayson Schmitz (81/7th place) advancing.
From South Harrison, Koltyn Smith shot 82 for a 10th place tie, Austin Lasher, at 83, was in a tie for 14th place, while Cole Taylor took the final available individual state position, just above the cut line at 13-over par 85.
