Gallatin and Hamilton both advanced to next week’s Class 1 sectional round, with the Bulldogs finishing in 1st place and the Hornets 2nd, at Monday’s Class 1, District 7 boy’s golf tournament in Savannah.
Gallatin’s winning score of 333 was followed closely by Penney’s 344. Orrick was a distant third at 429, followed by Norborne (466), Mercer (517), and Princeton (542).
Hamilton’s Ethan Green shot 75 to earn medalist honors, followed by Gallatin’s Jett Simmons in second place at 76. Logan Burns of Gallatin was third at 77, with Hamilton’s Wyatt Gregory at 84, and Gallatin’s Bradley Rhoades at 87.
Others advancing to sectional competition, by finishing the top 25, included Gallatin’s Gabriel Cole at 88, Hamilton’s Quinn Brown at 90, Gallatin’s Wyatt Bird and Norborne’s Logan Korff at 91. Hamilton’s Caden Brown at 95, Milan’s Derrick Sylvester at 97, Ridgeway’s Ethan Claycomb at 100, Hamilton’s Nicholas Hartley at 107, Ridgeway’s Joe Rinehart at 109, Mercer’s Alec Patterson at 124 and Clayson Patterson at 125, Princeton’s Mason Weber at 128, and Mercer’s Cru Taff at 131.
Other Princeton scores on the day were Calvin Berwanger at 135, Dylan McIntosh 139, Cameron Jones 140, and Logan Boxley, with a score of 157.
