Twelve girls and twelve boys have been recognized by the North Central Missouri College Foundation for their outstanding performances at the 2016 edition of Holiday Hoops. Sixty-seven games were played both before and after the Christmas Holiday at the Ketcham Community Center in Trenton.
The Lady Pirates basketball program at North Central Missouri College boasts two recruits among the 12 girls honored, as Trenton High School senior Whitley Richman and Gilman City High School senior Hailey Burrows were named to the 12-player squad, along with future Fort Hays State Lady Tiger Whitney Clampitt of Chillicothe High School, Higbee High School’s Sabrina Huddleston, Lathrop High School point guard Annika Hutt, North Harrison’s Peyton Craig, future Northwest Bearcat Jaelyn Haggard and Allison Moore of Paris.
The team is rounded out by a pair of tandems from area schools, as Smithville’s Trace Mosby and Lexi Moes are joined by Kaylie Campbell and Ona Furst of Southwest Livingston.
On the boys Holiday Hoops All-Star teams, two players each from Des Moines North, Penney High of Hamilton, and Maryville make up half of the squad’s selections. From the Polars, a squad that dominated its game with Chillicothe, Jai Bijeck and Tyreke Locure were named All-Stars. From Hamilton, senior Jaran Richman and junior LaTroy Harper received the honor, along with Maryville forward Jackson Golightly and guard John Zimmerman.
The remaining six slots went to Gallatin point guard Jett Simmons, Grain Valley High School’s Jake Salisbury, Hardin-Central’s Ryan Layman, Kansas City O’Hara’s Arinze Mgbemena, and Winston’s senior guard Craig Lewis.
