North Central Missouri College freshmen Whitley Richman (Trenton, MO) and Hailey Burrows (Gilman City, MO) combined for 33 points on Wednesday night, leading the Lady Pirates to an 89-55 win over the Park University junior varsity at the Ketcham Community Center.
Burrows connected on 5 of 6 three-point attempts, scoring a team-high 17 points, to go with 5 rebounds, while Richman was a strong 10 of 11 from the free-throw line, added three field goals and 10 rebounds in a 16 point effort. The win improves NCMC to 2-2 on the season.
Freshman Maddie Book (St. Joseph, MO) contributed 10 points in the victory, with sophomore Kendey Eaton breaking out of an early season shooting slump to net 15 points on 5 of 6 shooting (4 for 4 from three-point range) for the Lady Pirates.
North Central will continue its two-game homestand with a Friday night contest against the Central Methodist JV, before traveling to Leavenworth, Kansas on Tuesday night to battle the University of St. Mary junior varsity.
The Pirate men improved to 2-1 with a convincing 88-61 win over the Missouri Valley JV. Sophomore Jalen Gant led the Pirates with 28 points, with Ryan Ward adding 12, and Jordan Reece 10.
The Pirates travel to Kansas City, Kansas this weekend to play in the Blue Devil Classic at Kansas City Kansas Community College. On Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock, NCMC will play the Highland Community College (KS) Scotties. On Saturday night at 6, the Pirates battle the host KCK Blue Devils. Saturday night’s game will be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7, with pregame at 5:45.
