Just weeks after his dismissal from the University of Missouri’s football program for academic issues, defensive lineman Harold Brantley has resurfaced in-state at Division 2 powerhouse Northwest Missouri State.
On Wednesday, Brantley tweeted, “So blessed to still have the opportunity to play the game, and extremely excited to be a Bearcat!”
Brantley, when on the field, was a force on Mizzou’s defensive line, racking up 28 sacks with 84 tackles in just two seasons at the SEC school. However, a car accident in June 2015 derailed his career with the Tigers. Injuries from the accident forced him to miss the entire 2015 season. Academic issues with Brantley came to light by the spring, as the program was taken over by Barry Odom. Those issues caused Brantley to miss most of the spring. In August, his dismissal from MU became official.
Northwest has proven to be as powerful as ever early in the 2016 season, with the potential addition of Brantley to the defensive line giving the Bearcats, on paper, the most formitable group in the MIAA.
