The top-seeded Penney Lady Hornets won the first out of what could be multiple battles against the rival Trenton Lady Bulldogs, riding a dominant 31 point performance by senior point guard Nora Ford to a 64-51 win on Saturday night, in the championship game of the Lawson Invitational Tournament. Graycen Prothero had 10 points and Ali Trosper six for Penney, now 9-2 on the season.
Trenton, falling to a mark of 7-5, had 23 points from Maci Moore, with Lexi Whitaker adding 11.
The boys championship in the LIT went to the Richmond Spartans, with a 60-50 triumph over the Gallatin Bulldogs. Richmond, now 10-2 on the campaign, had 19 points from Dionte Marquez. Freshman Isaac Bird paced the Bulldogs with 17 points, with Tristan Gibson adding 12.

The rival Princeton Tigers and Mercer Cardinals locked horns in a doubleheader to decide the championships of the South Harrison Invitational Tournament, with the victories going to the Tiger boys and the Cardinal girls. The Princeton boys, behind 19 points from senior Preston Thomas, took a 49-42 win over Mercer. Camden Hartley had 15 points and Jon Johnson 13 for the Cardinals. The Mercer girls defeated the Lady Tigers 39-36, improving to 8-4 on the season.
