Eli Drinkwitz and the Missouri Tigers have verbal commitment #9 for the Class of 2013, as American Heritage (Fort Lauderdale, FL) High School safety Shamar McNeil announced his decision for Mizzou on social media Friday night.
McNeil chose Missouri over other known offers from Rutgers and Florida Atlantic. He had officially visited the MU campus in Columbia on Wednesday, June 29th. He becomes the first commitment for 2023 at the safety position. Mississippi Gulf Coast JUCO recruit Les Hewitt is a cornerback.
With Lee’s Summit wide receiver Joshua Manning and St. Mary (St. Louis) running back Jamal Roberts in tow, McNeil brought Missouri’s July recruiting total to three.
Thus far in the recruiting cycle, the Tigers have had more success out of state compared to in the state of Missouri, with commitments from quarterback Gabarri Johnson of Tacoma, Washington; Dickinson (Texas) wide receiver Marquis Johnson, East St. Louis (Illinois) wide receiver Nicholas DeLoach; in addition to St. Charles (MO) tight end Brett Norfleet and Troy-Buchanan (MO) edge rusher Jahkai Lang.
