Missouri’s annual state championship tournaments for high school softball will start Friday morning in Springfield, with northern Missouri to be represented by Maysville, LaPlata, Marceline, and Chillicothe.
Maysville won in dominant fashion for the second time in four days, advancing to state with a 12-1 win over Pattonsburg on Saturday morning. Maysville, on Friday morning at 11 o’clock, will play East Carter, a 6-3 winner over Leeton on Saturday afternoon. Pattonsburg, prior to having their season end on Saturday afternoon, advanced with a come-from-behind sectional win over Princeton on Wednesday night, 15-8.
On the bottom half of the Class 1 bracket, LaPlata beat Atlanta in one quarterfinal 3-1, while St. Elizabeth downed Silex 7-3, with LaPlata playing LaPlata at 11 o’clock on Friday morning in the state semifinals.
Marceline’s powerhouse program in Class 2 advanced to state with a quarterfinal win on Wednesday night at Clark County, 3-1, sending the Lady Tigers into a 12 noon semifinal matchup on Friday, October 29th in Springfield against New Bloomfield, a 7-6 winner over Elsberry.
Sherwood beat Mid-Buchanan in the Class 2 quarterfinal round 5-1, with Iberia slipping by Kelly High School 2-1.
The MEC champion Chillicothe Lady Hornets hammered Holden 11-0 in the quarterfinal round, sending CHS to state for a 2 o’clock meeting on Friday afternoon with Perryville.
Sullivan and Blair Oaks meet in the other Class 3 state semifinal.
The Class 4 semifinals will be played on Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with Washington battling Platte County and Incarnate Word Academy taking on Rolla.
In the Class 5 state semifinals, to be played on Thursday afternoon at 1 o’clock, Parkway South will play Lee’s Summit West, with Francis Howell Central taking on Blue Springs South.
