Another death of a legendary Major League Baseball Hall of Famer has hit that sacred fraternity, as Don Sutton passed away in his sleep on Tuesday, succumbing to cancer at the age of 75.
Sutton was a four-time All-Star who amassed 324 wins in a 20-plus year long career that included two stops in Los Angeles with the Dodgers, in addition to Houston, Milwaukee, Anaheim, and Oakland. A finesse pitcher that used change of speed and location to find success, Sutton’s best success came with the 1970’s Dodgers. He never missed a start over 756 career appearances.
Sutton, after his player career ended in 1988, moved into the broadcast booth, with the Atlanta Braves, his current employer, announcing the death, occurring at Sutton’s home in Rancho Mirage, California.
