As the 2017-18 high school basketball season comes to a close, the official announcement of dates for the 14th annual High School Holiday Hoops were announced today.
Eleven days of basketball will once again be on the schedule with games for the 2018 event to tip off on Saturday, December 15th. Games will resume on the evenings of December 17 through 22 and again be played on December 27 -29 concluding on December 31.
Director of Holiday Hoops Steve Maxey says that the exact number of games are yet to be determined and with schools still in session during the week of Dec 17-21, it is uncertain as to how many games might be played during that week.
Sponsored by the North Central Missouri College Foundation, Holiday Hoops will feature teams from across the state of Missouri with participation from Iowa and possibly Kansas high schools. All games will again be played on the campus of North Central Missouri College.
Maxey says that already nearly 100 teams are contracted for play making the event once again the largest high school holiday shoot-out in the state. The announcement of teams can be found on a regular basis on the Holiday Hoops Facebook page at NCMC Holiday Hoops.
In addition to the recruitment of teams, invitations for sponsorships and advertisers as well as volunteers will begin soon. Maxey says that due to the size of the event, the steering committee of fifteen individuals is a year-long commitment with much of the planning already in place for 2018.
