The Trenton Bulldogs finished third as a team with a score of 377 and advanced three of their five players to the Section 4 tournament in Richmond, at Wednesday’s Class 2, District 8 tournament at the Mozingo Golf Course in Maryville.
Advancing their entire teams through to Section 4 are the District 8 champion Bishop LeBlond Golden Eagles and runner-up Maryville Spoofhounds. LeBlond, in scoring 327, had the top two players on the course, including district medalist Brooks Jungbluth, with a round of two-over par 74. Runner-up Hank Lierz of LeBlond had 75. Maryville, with a score of 337, had a best of 6-over par 78 from third-place Matt Twaddle.
Penney High School’s Ethan Green had the top score from the local area, with a nine-over 81. Trenton’s three that advanced all finished between 6th and 10th place, with Lathan Croy finishing 6th for the Bulldogs at 84, Nate Swann 7th at 85, and Corbyn Guile 10th at 89.
Among the others advancing to the Section 4 tournament are Lathrop’s Teaguen Mudd (14th place/96), Brookfield’s Andrew Bragg (15th place/97), South Harrison’s Grant Taylor (17th place/99), Hamilton’s Nicholas Hartley (18th place/100), Plattsburg’s Garrett Stephens (19th place/102), Hamilton’s Quinn Brown and Plattsburg’s Joe Turley (2oth place/103), Hamilton’s Nicholaus Wyckoff (22nd place/105), Lathrop’s Kenny Breckenridge and Lawson’s Tyson Cress (23rd place/107), and Brookfield’s Cooper Cisna and Plattsburg’s Klayton Kennedy (25th place/109).
Non-qualifying scores from Mozingo included South Harrison’s Cody Weller at 110, Hamilton’s Caden Brown at 117, Trenton’s Luke Lewis at 119, Trenton’s Connor Cotton at 120, South Harrison’s Payton Gentry at 124, South Harrison’s Zach Faulkner at 126, South Harrison’s Blake Thomas at 136, Brookfield’s Dillon Sackrey at 147, and Brookfield’s Daniel Morris at 163.
Class 2, District 7 was contested in Excelsior Springs, with Summit Christian Academy and O’Hara advancing their teams to the Section 4 tournament. SCA won District 7 with a score of 348, while O’Hara shot 385 for second place. Medalist honors went to Alex Brown of Summit Christian Academy, shooting 7-over par.
